ST. PETERS, Mo. 鈥 The St. Charles County Ambulance District has announced the line-of-duty death of Paramedic Michael Clarke.

Clarke was discovered unresponsive in a bedroom at Station 12 in St. Peters after not responding to a 911 call assignment on Oct. 14, reported.

Despite resuscitation attempts by his colleagues and treatment at Barnes St. Peters Hospital, Clarke did not survive, according to the department. The cause of death remains unknown.

Clarke joined the district in November 2022 and was known for his positive attitude. Earlier this year, he and two colleagues were recognized for saving a life during a cardiac arrest.

鈥淗e was a light in the room anytime you walked in, he always had a great attitude, he was an excellent part of our organization. We cannot certainly replace him,鈥 Chief Kelly Cope said. 鈥淲e鈥檒l lean on our own family and try to support his family as best we can. It鈥檚 a loss we can鈥檛 replace.鈥
