LANSING, Mich. 鈥� Jeff White of Memphis and Chief Paramedic at Richmond Lenox Emergency Management Services is among the first responders who have been appointed by the Michigan Association of Ambulance Services to its 2024/2025 leadership and board of directors.
During White鈥檚 longtime career at Richmond Lenox he has managed an organization that has grown from 11 employees to 50 and from one station to three. During this time the EMS also expanded from one paramedic ambulance to a fleet being staffed and licensed at the paramedic level.
鈥淚t is a privilege to be selected by your peers, to serve on a board which focuses on our citizen鈥檚 interests, as it relates to the life-saving care provided by ambulance services throughout our state,鈥� said White.
Serving as president of the board is John Clayton, EMS Manager at MyMichigan Health in Midland. Clayton has worked EMS at MyMichigan Health, which serves Midland, Gladwin and Alpena Counties, for nearly 30 years. He previously served as MAAS president-elect and serves on the Michigan EMS Foundation board.
鈥淓MS provides essential, lifesaving care in our communities and I鈥檓 honored to lead the MAAS board and serve as an advocate for our industry,鈥� Clayton said, in a news release. 鈥淚鈥檓 committed to working to strengthen EMS resources while promoting the value of working in EMS as our worker shortage continues.鈥�

Michigan is home to 29,035 EMS providers, 800 life support agencies and more than 4,012 licensed life support vehicles, according to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Division of EMS and Trauma within the Bureau of Emergency Preparedness, EMS and Systems of Care.
The Michigan Association of Ambulance Services is a statewide trade association representing and advocating for ambulance services. In 2022, MAAS members were responsible for over a million ambulance transports, serving nearly 80% of Michigan counties. MAAS members also provide community paramedicine, ER diversion and 9-1-1 services in several areas of Michigan .
