PORTLAND, Ore. 鈥 Actor Michael Norell, renowned for his portrayal of Captain Hank Stanley in the popular TV series 鈥淓mergency!鈥 passed away earlier this month in Pennsylvania, as stated in his . He was 85 years old.

The TV series 鈥淓mergency!鈥 aired from 1972 to 1977 and is widely recognized for its role in popularizing the field of paramedicine.

According to his obituary, Norell obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington and Lee University in 1959 and served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1964. He was married to the late Liz Ingleson in 1965 and later wed Cynthia Ann Cherbak in 1991.

Norell excelled in various roles as an actor, writer, and producer, and held esteemed memberships in prominent organizations such as the Screen Actors Guild 鈥 American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, Writers Guild of America West, Actors Equity Association, and Sigma Delta Chi. In recognition of his talent, he received the Writers Guild Award for Longform in 1990.

Michael Norell is survived by his wife, and he is also survived by his son and daughter. The Haky/Georgiana Centre County Funeral Home is taking care of the funeral arrangements on behalf of the family.

As per the family鈥檚 wishes, the services will be held privately.
