NYC bus driver in critical condition after crashing into Burger King restaurant

Authorities believe the driver may have suffered a medical emergency before crashing into the Brooklyn fast food restaurant

NEW YORK — A MTA bus crashed into a Burger King restaurant in Brooklyn early on Thursday morning leaving the driver in critical condition, according to police.

Officers saw a MTA bus that crashed into a Burger King restaurant at 3301 Ft. Hamilton Parkway near Dahill Road at about 12:11 a.m., according to a spokeswoman for the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.

The incident involved a B16 bus, according to the MTA, which referred Advance/ to the NYPD for more information.

The 60-year-old male bus driver was removed to Maimonides Medical Center in critical condition, according to police.

Police are looking into the possibility that the driver suffered a medical episode, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.

Passengers, ages 60 and 23, refused medical attention at the scene.

The restaurant was closed and unoccupied at the time of the accident. The investigation continues, the police spokeswoman said.
