ADELAIDE, Australia 鈥� An Australian-based company has revealed the first look at a mobile stroke diagnosis technology.
During a virtual reality demonstration, Micro-X, an X-ray imaging company, showcased their Head CT Scanner,. This device is intended for use in ambulances, allowing for immediate stroke diagnosis right at the patient鈥檚 side. This mobile approach aims to cut down the time it takes to start treatment.
When completed, the Micro-X Head CT will weigh less than 155 pounds and will contain 21 mini x-ray tubes.
Australia is rolling out mobile stroke units, which are specially designed vehicles outfitted with a heavy-duty CT scanner, and staffed by acute stroke experts. These units have shown promising results in patient care, Micro-X says.
Micro-X鈥檚 mobile stroke technology is being developed with an $8 million portion of a $40 million grant. This grant was given to the Australian Stroke Alliance by the Australian Government鈥檚 Medical Research Future Fund.
