COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. 鈥 Officials from the Colorado Springs Fire Department have announced plans to present their proposal to the city regarding taking over EMS services from American Medical Response (AMR).

On May 10, Fire Chief Randy Royal and fire department administrators met to prepare their presentation for the Colorado Springs City Council, reported. Their objective is to argue against renewing the contract with AMR which expires in April 2025. Instead, they propose establishing a 鈥淕round Ambulance Service Enterprise鈥 within the city.

According to the proposal, the 鈥淕round Ambulance Service Enterprise鈥 would function to deliver emergency medical services in the City of Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Region, operating in a similar manner to external agencies like AMR.

that AMR paid over $3.4 million in damages in 2022 for delayed responses to emergency calls.
