Two people were killed when the driver of an electric vehicle crashed into an Illinois home, police say.
Speed is believed to have been a factor in the Sunday, March 2, crash involving a Tesla in Woodridge , a southwestern suburb of Chicago, WGN reported.
The Tesla driver left the road and struck a home, causing the vehicle to ignite in flames, the Woodridge Police Department said. Photos from the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District show the fiery aftermath.

鈥淎s soon as I heard a loud bang, I saw the vehicle go right into the house,鈥� John Klecyngier, a neighbor, told WFLD. 鈥淎s soon as I saw that, I saw the flames, I heard the screaming. I pulled the video off my cameras and sure enough, it鈥檚 the car going at an extremely high rate of speed.鈥�
Firefighters prevented the fire from extending into the home, officials said. It took about 20 minutes to get the blaze under control.
Police said both people in the car 鈥� the driver and a passenger 鈥� were pronounced dead at the scene. They have not been publicly identified as of March 3.
No one inside the home was injured, police said.
