WARREN, Pa. 鈥� A Warren County fire chief died the morning after responding to an EMS call on Oct. 16 and was treated by his colleagues from that earlier call.
Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief Timothy Johnson suffered a medical emergency at home after the call,鈥�鈥痳eported. Johnson, 56, had been fire chief for three years and was a member of the department since 1986.
Deputy Chief Dave Tipton stated that Johnson and an EMS crew responded to a call at approximately 10:45 p.m. on Monday. After returning to the station an hour later, Johnson complained about indigestion and an upset stomach.
Johnson returned home and less than 10 minutes later, the same ambulance crew responded to his residence for a reported cardiac arrest. He was transported to Warren General Hospital, where he later died.
鈥淪ome people go out and do other stuff to relax, but he just left work and he was at the fire station,鈥� Tipton. 鈥淭hat is one of the reasons he is so irreplaceable. He held many hats in the fire department.鈥�
