FALL RIVER, R.I. 鈥 Fall River Paramedic Miranda Hennessy was exiting her ambulance during a call on May 29 when an oncoming car collided with the rig鈥檚 open door, injuring Hennessy and her partner, reported.
Hennessy was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with severe injuries. She underwent an approximately seven-hour surgery and is expected to recover, according to the report.
Coventry Fire Captain Robert Mann said Hennessy is 鈥渋n good spirits鈥 and will hopefully return home soon.
The is raising funds for Hennessy to help cover her medical expenses and support her recovery. Additionally, two T-shirts will be available for purchase in her honor: an authorized on-duty shirt for first responders and another shirt for the general public.
The driver who caused Hennessy鈥檚 injuries fled the scene and has not yet been arrested. Hennessy鈥檚 partner sustained minor injuries and has since been released from the hospital.
