PORTLAND, Ore. 鈥� A MAX train and a Portland Streetcar collided Wednesday morning, damaging both transit vehicles and causing minor injuries, fire officials said.
Portland Fire & Rescue responded to the crash at Northeast 7th Avenue and Holladay Street around 10:20 a.m. Firefighters found the MAX train and streetcar with shattered glass and front-end damage.
It鈥檚 unclear what caused the crash, said spokesperson Rick Graves.
The driver of the streetcar was lightly pinned during the crash, but firefighters pulled the person out without further injury, Graves said. The streetcar driver and a passenger were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
TriMet is investigating the cause of the crash, according to spokesperson Tia York.
The intersection will be closed for several hours, officials said. TriMet has cautioned riders taking the Red, Blue and Green lines to consider taking the bus instead due to heavy delays.
Portland Streetcar has shuttles for A Loop riders between Northwest 9th Avenue and Lovejoy Street and Northeast Weidler Street and Grand Avenue until the route is clear, according to an alert from the transit service.
