2 dead, 5 injured when mobile home collapses on Texas family

Deputies said the family in Angleton was working on leveling their mobile home when it collapsed on them

BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas 鈥 A DIY home project turned deadly when the structure collapsed, trapping , Texas deputies said.

The crumbling mobile home in Angleton killed two people, a minor and an adult, and hospitalized five others, the Brazoria County Sheriff鈥檚 Office said in a Sept. 22 Facebook post.

A man died, but police did not identify them, according to KHOU.

The home 鈥渨as in the process of being leveled鈥 as the seven family members worked on it, deputies said.

Rescuers pulled the five surviving family members from the rubble, the sheriff鈥檚 office said. First responders used a chainsaw to free one person, deputies told KHOU.

A helicopter transported four people in critical condition to the hospital, deputies said. The other family member was taken by ambulance in stable condition.

The sheriff鈥檚 office said it is continuing to investigate.

Angleton is about a 45-mile drive south from Houston.
