A 26-year-old Niles man was injured Monday, Jan. 15, in a snowmobile crash in Cass County, sheriff’s deputies said.

CASS COUNTY, Mich. – A man was injured Monday, Jan. 15, when his snowmobile crashed and landed on top of him, sheriff’s deputies said.

The snowmobiler, a 26-year-old Niles man, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash was reported around 7:45 p.m. near Indian Lake Road and Frost Street in Cass County’s Pokagon Township. The snowmobiler was riding south on the trails near the intersection when he lost control of the snowmobile. It rolled and landed on top of him, police said.

The man, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to a South Bend, Indiana, hospital.

Cass County sheriff’s deputies said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.

Southwestern Michigan Community Ambulance Services and Indian Lake Fire Department assisted at the scene.
