Firefighter Frank Whitt was killed in a crash while en route to escort EMT Drake Adams to a funeral home

SANDY HOOK, Ky. 鈥 Elliott County suffered the loss of two first responders on Tuesday in a series of tragic circumstances.

According to previous reports, an EMT, later identified as Drake Adams, died early Tuesday from natural causes.

Carter County EMS released condolences for Adams鈥檚 family, adding Adams was previously employed as an EMT in Carter County, as a firefighter in Sandy Hook and Winchester and was formerly a corrections officer at Sandy Hook Correctional Facility.

鈥淥ur hearts ache as we ask you to hold Drake鈥檚 beloved wife, Ruby, his children, and all those who cherished him in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,鈥 Elliott County EMS posted.

Per previous reports and social media releases, Frank Whitt, a firefighter with the 504 Fire Department was killed in a single-vehicle-accident while en route to escort Adams to a funeral home.

Other news agencies reported KSP said Whitt was driving a fire engine southbound on Route 504 around 5 p.m. before losing control, striking a guardrail and going over an embankment.
