SAN FRANCISCO 鈥� Two people were injured Monday afternoon when a large eucalyptus tree fell and hit five cars in Golden Gate Park, according to fire officials.
The incident happened just before 4 p.m. on Crossover Drive near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
The tree fell across Crossover Drive and hit five cars, including a Tesla, Lexus and Mercedes-Benz.
Firefighters evaluated a total of 11 people and declared them 鈥渟afe,鈥� the San Francisco Fire Department said in a social media post. Two of them suffered injuries, which were not considered life-threatening.
City arborists were working with firefighters to remove the tree so the cars could be towed, according to fire officials. Four cars in the southbound direction of Crossover Drive were damaged and one car in the northbound direction was damaged.
All lanes of 19th Avenue, which turns into Crossover Drive inside Golden Gate Park, were initially closed following the incident. The northbound direction was reopened shortly before 8 p.m. and the southbound direction shortly before 10 p.m.
