ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. 鈥� A Citizens Hose EMT who was struck by a vehicle and severely injured on Jan. 6 has been released from the hospital.
EMT Kelly Jackson and her partner were diverting traffic on a snowy and icy road when a car lost control going down the hill and hit Jackson, reported.

鈥淭he guy that did this lost control came down the hill. It happened so fast,鈥� Jackson said. 鈥淲hen I looked up, it was in front of me. There was no getting out of the way.鈥�
Jackson鈥檚 partner and other first responders rushed to help her.
鈥淭hey did an amazing job between my partners on the scene and them. They kept me alive,鈥� she said.
Jackson suffered several internal injuries and fractures. She is now in physical and occupational therapy as her recovery continues.
The community stepped up to support Jackson during her recovery and she plans to pay it forward by donating the proceeds at a fundraiser for her next month to the Alle-Kiski Health Foundation.
鈥淭hat is where I got my education and it is from a grant they do yearly but they are only able to do so many because of their funding,鈥� Jackson said. 鈥淲ith the spaghetti dinner, my goal is to put more people through that class and have them in the field.鈥�
