WASHINGTON 鈥 The International Association of Emergency Medical Services Chiefs (IAEMSC) released a statement about the tragic death of Burnsville Firefighter/Paramedic Adam Finseth and two law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

The statement said the tragedy was 鈥渘ot just a blow to the community鈥 but a loss to all of us who stand with those committed to saving lives.

During a domestic situation involving an armed man barricaded in his home with his family, the suspect opened fire on officers. Finseth was killed while treating one of the wounded officers.

鈥淥ur brothers and sisters rush towards danger to offer aid and comfort to those in their most vulnerable moments,鈥 the statement went on. 鈥淵et, they are increasingly met with violence, a trend that has escalated to unacceptable levels.鈥

The IAEMSC went on to state that the safety of EMS providers and first responders is paramount when faced with rising violence and often being the first on the scene, providing critical care when every second counts.
