Cab of fire engine falls on Ariz. paramedic during maintenance

Gila Bend Paramedic Cody Jordan was critically injured when the cab unexpectedly fell on him

GILA BEND, Ariz. 鈥 A Gila Bend Fire Rescue paramedic is recovering after the cab of the fire engine he was working on unexpectedly fell on him, trapping him underneath the apparatus.

Gila Bend Fire Chief Arelia Henry said firefighters on duty quickly gained access to Paramedic Cody Jordan, pulled him out, and began life-saving measures, reported.

Jordan was flown to a level 1 trauma center in critical condition.

鈥淚t has been very touch and go all the way since the beginning,鈥 Gila Bend Fire Chief Arelia Henry told . 鈥淲e are a very close fire-family, and it has been tough.鈥

Henry said Jordan has undergone surgery to stabilize his chest, which was fractured in multiple places, and is expected to undergo more surgeries in the future.

The Gila Bend Fire Department and the Maricopa County Sheriff鈥檚 Office are investigating the incident.
